JrFit™ Course Objectives

Overall objective: To instruct already certified and experienced personal trainers so they are able to build upon their existing knowledge and skill to safely and effectively work successfully with youth, and more specifically teach the trainer to:
  1. Learn and appreciate how to guide youth in developing a functional musculoskeletal system for fitness and health.

  2. Gain knowledge of safe and effective program prescription; correct training techniques and form; and injury prevention for youth.

  3. Understand equipment and exercises for entire body essential movements; including flexibility, coordination, balance, stamina, strength, speed and agility.

  4. Be aware of and be capable of conducting sports specific training/activities; including power, jumping, striking and endurance. 

  5. Identify what motivates youth and discover how to create an age friendly environment. 

  6. Identify dietary needs for health, weight gain or loss, strength, endurance and sports specific nutrition.
