Wayne Westcott, Ph.D., C.S.C.S has Bachelor and Master degrees in Physical Education from
Pennsylvania
State University and a Ph.D. in Physical Education from Ohio State
University. He is also has been certified as a Personal
Trainer by the American
Council on Exercise and as a Certified Strength Conditioning Specialist
by the National Strength and Conditioning Association. |
Wayne
Westcott, Ph.D., C.S.C.S., is the Fitness Research Director at the
South Shore YMCA in Quincy, Massachusetts. His extensive educational
background includes Bachelor and Master degrees in Physical Education
from Pennsylvania State University and a Ph.D. in Physical Education
from Ohio State University. He is also has been certified as a Personal
Trainer by the American Council on Exercise and as a Certified Strength
Conditioning Specialist by the National Strength and Conditioning
Association.
His vast
experience in the Fitness Industry includes work as a Physical
Education Instructor and Assistant Track Coach at Pennsylvania State
University and Eastern Connecticut State University. He was also a
Physical Education Professor and Undergraduate Co-Director at Florida
State University. He then served as Fitness Director at Old Colony YMCA
in Brochton, Massachusetts, prior to his current position as the South
Shore YMCA Fitness Research Director. Further, he is a strength
training consultant for Nautilus, the United States Navy and the
American Council on Exercise. He is editorial advisor for many
publications, including Prevention, Shape and Fitness Management. He is
author of 20 fitness books, including his newest releases: Building
Strength and Stamina, Strength Training Past 50, Strength Training Past
50 2nd edition, Strength Training for Seniors, Complete Conditioning
for Golf, and Strength and Power for Young Athletes. He presents
strength training seminars for the fitness/conditioning instructors for
all of the military services, the Federal Law Enforcement Training
Center and at all of the national level fitness conventions.
He was
recently honored with the Healthy American Fitness Leader Award from
the President’s Council on Physical Fitness and Sports, the
Lifetime Achievement Award from the Governor’s Committee on
Physical Fitness and Sports, the Presidential Award from the National
School Fitness Foundation and the Alumni Recognition Award from
Pennsylvania State University.
He and his
wife, Claudia, live in Quincy, Massachusetts. There he enjoys
personal interests that include gardening, animals (a dog and two
horses) and outdoor activities (biking, hiking and running).
